LAYERED PAINTINGS...
Wyrick explored painting many times during her career. Wyrick particularly liked to build three-dimensional layers on stretched canvas by using gel medium to adhere materials.
She made an attempt to simulate her paper Needle Drawings in canvas to make larger versions possible. A scrim overlay to replicate the vellum was tried unsuccessfully, yet the paintings seemed effective without the scrim and they were left white. Her painted version, 21st Dawn in the Draw, has remained a favorite.
